Windows Phone 8 – The next electrifying episode in the industry

Windows Phone 8, the most advanced mobile OS from Microsoft officially announced today in San Francisco. Windows Phone 8 is grounded on the Windows 8 core technologies and unleashes exciting new features for everyone.

Windows Phone 8 Features

Windows Phone 8 features new Start screen with more customization options with a new palette of theme colors and three sizes of Live Tiles.

Windows Phone 8 supports now multi-core processors and removable Micro SD cards; so you can extend your phone’s storage without degrading the performance. It will also come with the latest Internet Explorer (i.e. IE10) sharing the same web browsing engine for Windows PCs. Beyond this Windows Phone 8 shares common networking, security, media and a common file system with Windows 8.

To improve maps and directions, the company has done seamless integration of Nokia mapping in Windows Phone 8 with the ability to store maps offline.

Moreover Microsoft aids a new Wallet feature to its upcoming Windows Phone OS to keep secure your debit and credit cards, coupons, boarding passes and other sensitive information while checking out counters.

No Windows Phone 8 upgrade for current devices

As Windows Phone 8 is not an update, the current Windows Phone devices including (Lumia 900) won’t be able to upgrade to Windows Phone 8. But Microsoft will be injecting the new Start screen in upcoming update calling “Windows Phone 7.8.”

Availability

Though the company hasn’t set any particular date of availability, but confirms the new Windows Phone devices will arrive later this year from Nokia, Huawei, Samsung, and HTC.

Personally I find Windows Phone 8 is totally electrifying. What do you say? Share your views and thoughts in comments section below:
